Pop singer Madonna said it best in an interview, “the reason why most people don’t have what they want is because they don’t ask for what they want.”
What a true statement it was. I can think of the time back in 2004 when I did my first stage play production. It was at a university theater. I was excited, arrogant, naive and thought I could do it all at once! The bigger problem was I expected good ticket sales. Long story short, not only was I frustrated with poor sales but I assumed just because people knew me, they would automatically purchase from me.
How many times have you assumed people knew what you wanted?
Not only do we need to ask the right questions but we have to make our intentions known. This applies to anything: business, relationships, friendships, and so forth.
Can you think of a time that you asked a general question but you wanted specific answers?
